There are more and more allergy sufferers and we have environmental allergies at very early ages.

Dr. Susana Ranea, an allergy specialist at Juaneda Hospitals, explains the variations of this disease, so closely linked to spring, whose patterns are altered by the influence of pollution and climate change.

“There are more and more people with allergies, even in their 70s and 80s, when it used to be normal for them to start young.” Susana Ranea, allergist at Juaneda Hospitals, with consultation in the Allergology Unit of the Juaneda Miramar Hospital, who adds that “the WHO estimates that in 2050, 50% of the population will be allergic.”

It used to be normal for “spring and pollen allergy sufferers to be young people. Very young children didn’t present it; they usually started with allergies to dust mites or animal dander. Pollen allergy debuted in adolescence and caused more problems in middle age. Now we find older patients and young children.
