Allergies are becoming more common. Today, three out of ten people suffer from them, and it is expected that half of the population will suffer from them within 20 years. It is no longer surprising to allergists to see patients who experience their first allergy episode at age 80.
“Allergology is a specialty for patients from 0 to 100 years old,” although “precision medicine and new treatments are achieving great improvements, curing food allergies in children,” says Dr. Susana Ranea, an allergist at Juaneda Hospitals.
